Spider-Man Hasn’t Been In Civil War Trailers Because Of Company Dispute

We’ve seen quite a lot of promotion of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie. What we haven’t seen, is any trace of the webslinger. If it hadn’t been said, we would literally have no idea he was in the movie at all. So what gives? Why haven’t we seen him?

Most people would say that they are just trying to save his reveal for the movie, which was a pretty convincing argument. But they real reason just came to light.

Sony has agreed to let Marvel use Spider-Man in any movie that is related to The Avengers, but anytime Spidey is on his own than he’s back to Sony. That doesn’t tell us why he hasn’t been in any promotional material though.

Apparently there is a bit of a gray area in the agreement. The Russo Brothers talked to Collider and this is what they said;

The reason why we still won’t talk about [the costume] is that Marvel and Sony still have to work out what uses they have for the character, on a promotional level, on a commercial level. There’s still complications as far as that goes that involves business deals.

So, it’s literally because they didn’t work that out in there deal. It seems as if they have come to a stand still. So, will Spidey be in a trailer? We don’t know, and it seems as if Sony and Marvel don’t either.

What do you think should happen? Will you be disappointed if you don’t see Spider-Man in a trailer? Let us know in the comments! Or connect with us on Facebook!

  1. From what I have seen I think they are going to write a lot of original story for the movie and they will have to. From the trailers ithe seems that they are not following the comic story ark very closely. I don’t think they even can because of all the characters they will have to add. A lot of them are tied up with fox and the x-men franchise. It would be cool if Spidy made it into the trailer but I am also missing the hundred other characters that they can’t put in the movie at all.
