Dave Franco Reveals Details From His Han Solo Audition

Now we have followed this young Han Solo story since the beginning when they released this short list back in January. Now just this week, we got news that the list got even shorter.

Unfortunately for Dave, his name wasn’t on that shorter list.  But he has come forward with some behind the scenes details about his audition! MTV asked if he tried to channel Harrison Ford during the Audition:

No, I’m not good with impressions or anything like that. I think that’s the reason why it’s so hard to cast this role. Do they want someone to perfectly embody who Harrison Ford is, or do they want to go a completely different route? Do they want someone to look really similar to him? I don’t know, I think they’re struggling with that.

Franco tells us the struggles that he felt as he went for the part, and how hard it was to get into character.

It’s hard to imagine anyone else playing Han Solo besides Harrison Ford. His perfect balance of bravado, tough guy exterior, and hidden vulnerability is what made Han Solo such a fan favorite. This juxtaposition is no easy feat to pull off as an actor, at least without making him seem like an unlikeable asshole.

Franco says that even though he isn’t being considered for the role anymore, he was still humbled that they thought of him as an option to begin with.

Do you think Dave would have been good in the role? Who do you think should get the part? Let us know in the comments, or connect with us on Facebook!

  1. I’m glad they didn’t go with him. I really like Dave but I can’t see him playing the role of young Han Solo. I think they need to cast someone who looks like Harrison. I don’t feel comfortable with the fact that they’re struggling with the decision because “they don’t know if they want someone to perfectly embody who Harrison Ford is or they want to go a completely different route”. I think they should focus on someone who can play Han Solo the way Harrison did. Anything else would be a disgrace!
